The following are a few things that a live scan background check DOES reveal and does NOT reveal:
Background checks DOES:
- Verifies Identities & Reveals if there is a Criminal History such as Felonies & Misdemeanors
These background check DOES NOT reveal:
- Credit Scores , DMV Driving Records or Medical History
Understand, that live scan background checks are needed because employers could be held liable for damages for unacceptable acts that their employees might do during employment.
If your background check has a few hiccups, its not the end of the world. Some employers are quite forgiving depending on the extent of what is revealed to them. Some will even give you an opportunity to explain. Of course, its at the employer's discretion.
THE LIVE SCAN PROCESS & HOW LONG IS THE TURN AROUND TIME
The Live scan Process consist of a 3 stages:
First, electronically capturing your fingerprints. Then the Live Scan Technician will submit your fingerprints to the California Dept of Justice(DOJ) and/or FBI. Finally, your background check results are sent to the your employer or requesting agency in a matter of days or less.
Sounds simple? Well, it is. You Just need to bring the following items with you to the live scan location:
- The Request for Live Scan Form. If your form is in an email, you can print it out in our office when you arrive.
- Bring a Valid Photo ID (i.e. Driver's License, State ID Card, Passport, etc). NOTE: A temporary license (DMV Paper Print-out ) is NOT a valid form of Identification.)
- and the live scan Payment.
Upon your arrival, you will hand the live scan technician your completed live scan forms and take your fingerprints. This process is about 10 to 15 minutes.
The beauty of taking a live scan fingerprinting is that the turnaround time for results is usually a week for some people and a couple of days for most people!
