Returning to Work after COVID, Get a Copy of Your Own Background Check Report

If your re-entering the workforce after COVID, one of the smartest moves you can do is conduct a personal background check on yourself through live scan, called a RECORD REVIEW. 

Often in today's job market, criminal background checks are being requested now more than ever. So, it would be helpful to also know what's on your background check report for yourself. This way you can also see what employers & agencies see.

Once you see the report, you can vet it yourself and check if all the information detailed in it is correct. If not, you can take the proper steps to have it corrected. 

*Reminder, a RECORD REVIEW is a separate live scan of its own and can NOT be used for Licensing, Certification, employment or Permits.

The cost of getting a personal live scan , called a RECORD REVIEW, and having access to your own background check report is normally $48. 

However, if you act now you may be eligible for the DOJ to WAIVE $25 on the total cost to get your criminal background check, therefore , it will ONLY cost you $23 to get a copy of your own background check.

*If you are eligible, the your live scan form will contain an assigned fee waiver number .

If you live in California and any of the following situations apply to you:

• You receive public assistance: i.e. CalFresh / Food Stamps, Medi-cal or Disability or
• You have No Income or your income is Low for your area and your household size

If this any of those situations apply to you, then click here to go to the Dept of Justice Website and complete their fee waiver form, print the live scan form then bring it into our office. If you do NOT have access to a printer, it will allow you to email the live scan form to yourself, then you can print it later in our office.

If you are NOT eligible for the fee waiver, then you can view and PRINT the RECORD REVIEW live scan form here to obtain your own California criminal background check for $48. 

Once you complete your live scan, you will get your Criminal Background Check Results via mail in 1 week.
